Grace Point is going to Costa Rica! June 18-26
Costa Rica is a Central American country, bordered to the north by Nicaragua and to the south by Panama. Approximately 21.7% of Costa Ricans live in poverty, 7.1% of which live in extreme poverty. These people are packed into small areas of land, living with large, multigenerational families in small lean-to shacks with no running water and questionable electricity. In the Summer of 2018, Grace Point Students (completed 8th grade and up) and College Ministries will work through Strong Missions on construction projects, feeding children in “precarious” (the Spanish word for precarious, similar to a slum), and assisting the community in other ways as well as sharing our faith and we’ll even find a bit of time for white water rafting and enjoying the beautiful Costa Rican beaches.
This trip is ideal for high school and college students to attend as Costa Rica is in easy travel range and is easy to monitor for Student safety. Julie Yates and Medical Center Campus Pastor, Josh Arrington, will be leading the trip. Pastor Josh has travelled to Costa Rica for missions for over 14 years and has taken over 2,000 people to the country. He also serves on the board for Strong Missions.
For 2018 graduating seniors, we have planned a trip extension. At the end of the week long trip, graduating seniors will have an opportunity to extend their time in the country with Pastor Josh. They will relax in the beauty of the jungle waterfalls, witness the splendor of an active volcano and it’s natural hot springs, and enjoy life-giving conversations designed to prepare them for what comes next in their lives and maintaining their faith into college and adulthood. There is an additional fee for the trip extension.

All trip attendees are required to have a valid US passport and must have an expiration date greater than 6 months from trip dates. Passports for students under the age of 16 are valid for 5 years from receipt date; passports for those 16 and over are valid for 10 years. All trip goers will be asked to read the book Go Well (orderfrom Amazon.) There will be 2 team training meetings. At the time of registration, you will receive instructions on how to prepare your One Story/Statement. You will be required to turn those in before the 1st training date. The first training will be held in March and will cover your One Story/Statement, the book Go Well, VBS training and duties & supplies. The second training will be held in May and will cover Evangelism training. Official training dates and times will be released to the team after the new year.
